Mallorca is one of my most favorite places I've ever visited! We spent three days in Palma de Mallorca, and it was magical. Here's everything we did!
Why Mallorca?
Are you a fan of beautiful beaches and perfect cafes? Then Mallorca is for you! Honestly, there's so much more to see and do on the island, so I'm already itching to go back and explore outside of the city. From what I hear it's a little slower of a pace than its popular counterpart (Ibiza), which was great for my partner and me since we're not in our 20s and sober, LOL.
It's a quick jaunt from Barcelona and we found it very easy to get to and from the island. Getting around by cab worked out great!
Where to stay?
Mhouse hotel
I loved our stay at MHouse Hotel! When they say they're in "the heart of Palma", they are totally correct. A lot of places within the center of town were very walkable, including the best cafes (keep reading for those!).
The property and room were gorgeous, and the staff was extremely friendly. They have a rooftop pool that you can reserve, which makes it feel nice and secluded. Plus, the view! We also ate dinner at the hotel restaurant in the courtyard, which was a nice treat after a travel day.
Something to note: The hotel does not have elevators and some of the cab drivers don't know how to get close to the hotel, so we had to walk up a steep street with our luggage to check in. If that could be an issue for you, I wouldn't recommend this particular property. If not though, it was a fantastic stay!
What to see?
The views are spectacular everywhere you go around Mallorca. We did two amazing tours, one by catamaran and one by Happy Van and I'd recommend both highly! It was interesting to see the island from the land and the sea.
Our land tour guide brought us to some well-known places and some secret spots for snorkeling. The water was refreshing and SO salty, so snorkeling was a breeze...I just was floating on my own! The catamaran cruise was a perfect way to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. On both tours we met some really cool people, which was a plus!
The Beaches!
You really can't go wrong with any beach or cove you visit in Mallorca. Cala Pi (pictured at the beginning) was a great spot that's worth the trek. Savor the views before descending down a steep 45-meter staircase down to the water. There are no facilities at the beach, but at the top of the stairs you can find some!
The other spots pictures were more local, so hit up Simon, The Happy Man for the insider bus tour!
Where to eat?
It was very hard to choose where to eat in Palma because so many places were divine! Here's where we ended up:
rosevelvet Bakery
Rosevelvet was right around the corner from where we stayed and it was so good, we went twice. They have a takeaway at their bakery and across the street they have an eatery. You'll see me say this a lot, but if I were to open a cafe (AND I MIGHT), Rosevelvet would be a huge inspiration.
Surry Hills
If you ever see the words "Australian Brunch" RUN don't walk. Australians know their brunch, and Surry Hills was a prime example. This also was right around the corner from the hotel we stayed at and every time I passed it, I was more intrigued. The food and coffee were divine, and the basement-y vibe of the cafe was cozy and cool.
Oops, All Cafes! They're all worth it I swear. Mistral Coffee Roasters in the center of Palma was a great place to sit outside and people watch. This plum toast??? Perfection. And of course, the coffee was spot-on.
Assaona GastroBeach club
Assaona Gastrobeach Club was not only a great pick for food, but the views were incredible! Obviously, try to get a reservation outside for sunset, but any time of day would be wonderful. You can rent the sunbeds here during the day, too!
A GoGo PizzaBar
We stumbled upon A GoGo Pizzabar wandering the streets of Palma and it was a fantastic experience. The pizza was delicious, and the owners were extremely friendly and just awesome people. They shared story with us and was just a really homey atmosphere.
